Blog Post Week 4 (post 1)

 Group meetings

I have gotten a lot of great feedback from my peers during this weeks group meeting.  It really allowed me to visualize this porject in a different way seeing how they all are working on it and they also gave me many inspirtational ideas on what my story could potentially be about.  After discussing with my peers I have come up with an idea for our story that I would like to share with my own group.  Where I used to live there was an abandoned psychiatric hospital and me and my friends would sometimes go to hang out around there.  This was always an exciting experence for us because it was quite scary but we were all together so it made it fun.  There is an abandoned hospital in fort lauderdale similar to this one that I am talking about and I believe that we can base a great story around that.  We will see what my group thinks!

These are some images of the psychiatric hospital in boston that I am talking about.

Blog Post Week 3 (post 4)

Setting

As a group, we have decided that we would like to base our film around a setting that is not commonly utilized.  This is to create a bit of uniqueness.  This setting will consist of dark corners and purposeful lighting.

This will be a location that teenagers are familiar with to create a sense of relatability.

Some possible ideas for setting that we have come up with are...

- Graveyard

- abandoned building

- woods

- creepy house

These are all places that we have access to and can record our project there.

The entire introduction scene that we will be filming will be recorded in one location only and will not change settign throughout it.

Blog Post Week 3 (post 3)

 target audience

Horror movies typically draw an audience that is a little younger, primarily people under 25. According to estimates, 42% of horror movie viewers are female, whereas 58% are male. In the same way that viewers go for a specific thrill or terror by delving into a world that isn't their own, thrillers and horror movies frequently overlap.

research on the target demographic for the horror genre Men made up 47% of respondents, while women made up 53%. 87% of participants were aged 15 to 17, 6% were in the 18 to 25 age range, and 7% were above 25. When asked if they like viewing horror movies, 20% of respondents said no, while 80% said yes.

Because our target audience is between the ages of 16 and 25, we plan on creating as much relatable content as possible.  Creating characters of the same age group as well as day-to-day activities that will be seen in the film that relates to one of a teenager in today's era.

Blog Post week 3 (post 2)

 Colors

As we start to focus more on creating a production in the Horror genre we are begining to look into color pallet for this film.  As seen in many other popular films of the same genre, the producers tend to lean towards a darker and neutral color scheme.  This means we will be using lots of shading to show darkness to give a sense of eeriness.

This is a neutral color pallet that we are planning to use. It consists of blacks, grey, whites, and specif shades of brown.

This screenshot of the scene from the Conjuring is a great example at how lighting also plays a big role in creating this illusion to the target audience.

Blog Post Week 3 (post 1)

 Paranormal Horror Films

The term "paranormal" is used to describe phenomena outside the realm of science. It and "supernatural" are used interchangeably. It doesn't matter because "supernatural" is a noun while "paranormal" is typically used as an adjective. The phrases can be used to refer to actions and occurrences not yet understood by science.

The target audience for paranormal films is primarily younger, between the ages of 15 and 25. Teenagers may connect to the events more easily because the primary characters are younger, which makes the movie appear more authentic to that age group and, as a result, scarier.

Here are some examples of popular Paranormal Horror Films:

Blog post week 2 (technology)

My group and I will be filming the entire project on our phones and will be using a lot of different film techniques to creat suspense and engagement to the audience. We will most likely use a stabilizer for recording borrowed from the class as I have some ideas of ways to use that but we still have to discuss as a group.

Blog post week 2 (plot aspects)

At this point me and my group have not yet discussed much about the plot. I think it will be good to make the plot in a cabin located in the middle of the woods around the New England area. I think it should be winter ish time.  We will have a better idea of what to do in regards to the plot in the next few days this week

Blog Post week 2 (Genre)

After discussing with my peers about this project, we all came to the conclusion that we wanted this movie intro to be one of a horror film.  We do not yet know which kind of horror, whether paranormal, spiritual, or stalker/killer but it is clear that want to focus on that genre.  We have many ideas on techniques that we could use to make this scene very engaging for the audience.

Port Folio Week 1 Blog

We are currently beginning our portfolio project.  After the many projects that we have completed I believe I have aquired all the tools and knowledge to make a great movie intro.  I am not yet sure what genre I will pursue or the main idea of the story but me and my group will come up with a schedule plan in class and out of class to maximize and generate the best idea possible while being organized.  After doing so, we will start to discuss our main ideas we have about this project.  We will begin to divide rolls and jobs to assure that each part of the project is done very carefully with a lot of attention from someone.

Music Marketing Blog Post #2

 Music Marketing Blog Post #2

Brainstorming/Planning:

Our group did a great job with the Brainstorming aspect of this project.  Although the production of the music was left a little bit to the last minute we were able to complete it due to the planning that we had.  We were very precise on a lot of details to make sure that were able to complete the project on time while making it great quality.  It was because of the brainstorming that we were very organized throughout this entire project.

Production:

I think that our production was very well put.  I think that we planned it well and created a music video that matched the song that we were given.  We were very productive as a group when creating this production because of the storyboard that we had created which helped us build the bones of the video and we were constantly pitching new ideas on the table to better the end result.  In regards to the PowerPoint part of it, we made sure to keep it engaging to the audience while having a lot of important information on them.

Post-Production:

After we were done with creating the PowerPoint and the music video we worked on dividing up the presentation and creating the speeches for the class.  This was not very complicated and we all agreed on our roles.  Each of us got two slide shows to talk about in front of the class.   This part of the project was the only part really that I believe we left a bit last minute and I do think it affected us during the presentation.

Presentation:

I believe we could have prepared our speeches a bit better but overall I think we did a pretty solid job of getting our thoughts out to the class.  We were all very engaging with the audience and asked questions that involved the entire audience interacting.  Our slide show was not boring and so it allowed the class to stay focused on what we were talking about our music video was well put together and it was quite serious but also made the class laugh which was a part of our goal.

Overall:

Overall I believe this project was very helpful and taught me many things.  It taught me how to conduct good research and how to present it afterwards and that is a skill I will be using for the rest of my life.  It has also taught me how to manage my time better as we didn't have a lot of time given to do this project so me and my group had to plan everything very precisely. I think both of these lessons I have learned are going to be super helpful when creating the portfolio to make sure it is as good as can be
